Registration of Birth of a Minor Child

The registration of birth of a minor child is required to formally record the birth details of a child born abroad to Indian parent(s). Birth registration serves as an official acknowledgment of the child’s birth and is an essential step for obtaining related documents and services, subject to verification by the concerned consular authority.

In Germany, Alankit Global assists parents and legal guardians by supporting the preparation and organization of applications for birth registration of minor children. Our role is limited to application facilitation and readiness support only. We do not influence consular decisions or processing outcomes. The acceptance, verification, and registration of birth are carried out solely by the concerned consular office.

These services are intended to help parents and guardians in Germany complete the birth registration process smoothly, reduce documentation errors, and ensure that applications are submitted in a clear and well-organized manner.

Follow the below steps in order to apply
  1. Create an account (Register yourself) on Alankit Global Service Centre website. Click Here to register.
  2. Fill the online application form on Govt of India's web portal.
  3. Upload / attach the following with the web application filled online on the above portal:
    1. Photograph of the child is to be uploaded on the portal (size 35x35 mm, white background - in JPG format less than 20 KB in size)
    2. Signatures of both the parents are also required to be uploaded on the portal (in JPG format less than 20 KB in size)
    3. Birth Certificate of the child issued by local German Authority (in PDF format less than 1 MB in size)
    4. Scanned copies of passport of both parents (first and last page of the passport – 2 pages of each passport) (in PDF format less than 1 MB in size)
  4. Download, fill up and sign the Form: Undertaking-Registeration Of A New Born Child. Click Here to download the undertaking form. 
  5. Book your appointment online at Alankit Global Service Centre website. You can choose a convenient date and time to visit the Alankit Global Service Centre for your application submission. Click Here to book your appointment online.  
  6. Ensure that you have all documents ready, exactly as per the "Documents Checklist" section. 
  7. Visit the Alankit Global Service Centre, as per your jurisdiction. The address and location of the centre will be clearly mentioned in the appontment letter. 
  8. Kindly ensure you reach the centre 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. 
  9. Submit your application and deposit your fees at Alankit Global Service Centre. You can check the fee for this application under the "Fee Details" section. 
  10. Your application submission process is now complete! You can avail our Courier service to get your processed document delivered to your doorstep!

  • Copy of German Birth Certificate (Geburtsurkunde)
  • Copy of Proof of Residence (Anmeldung/Meldebescheingung)
  • Copy of Passports of Parents
  • Copy of Valid Residence Permit of both parents

Note: If fingerprint or facial biometrics, or both, are not required for the selected service, the corresponding biometric charges for these services will be deducted from the total fees payable by the applicant.

Courier Charges

  • €26 – Within Province (with Insurance & Tracking)
  • €33 – Outside Province (with Insurance & Tracking)

All applications, especially postal applications are processed with return courier service to avoid delays and ensure secure delivery.

Bank Transfer Charges

An additional €0.50 applies for payments made via bank transfer, to cover transaction fees.

FAQ's for Registration of Birth of a Minor Child

  1. Why do I need to register the Birth of a newborn child?
    • Parents of a newborn child are legally required to register the child’s birth in order to obtain a birth certificate and give him / her an official identity and apply for an Indian passport.
  2. Is Birth Certificate mandatory for applying for a fresh Passport for the child?
    • Yes.
  3. How can I add the name of the father on the Birth Certificate when couple is not married?
    • In case the couple is not married, the name of the father can be included in the certificate issued by the Embassy / Consulate only if father name is mentioned in the birth certificate issued by local authorities. 
  4. What are the documents that are necessary for registration of a newborn child?
    • Application Form: Form I
    • Copy of German Birth Certificate (Geburtsurkunde)
    • Proof of Residence (Anmeldung)
    • Copy of Passports of Parents
    • Valid Residence Permit (Aufenthalt Erlaubnis)

  5. How long does it takes to get the Birth Certificate of a newborn child?
    • The process usually takes 1-2 weeks after the complete documents are received.
  6. What is the fee for the Birth Certificate and the mode of payment of a newborn child?
    • Refer to the "Fees Details" section for details. Alankit Global Service Centre accepts both cash payment and payments through credit / debit cards.
  7. How can corrections in the birth certificate of a newborn child be done?
    • You have to reapply with a fresh application and all the correct details as mentioned in Question No 4 above.
  8. If I am single parent of my child, what are the additional documents required for the birth registration of a newborn child apart from those mention in Q4?
    • In this case at least one of the parents must be an Indian National.
