- The minor applicant has damaged / lost his / her current Indian passport.
Note: Transit passengers whose passport is lost / damaged and are returning to India can be issued an Emergency Certificate. An Emergency Certificate, a one-way travel document which authorizes an Indian national to enter India, is issued to those whose passport has been lost, stolen or damaged and to whom a new passport cannot be issued immediately. This service is primarily extended with the objective of ensuring a transit passenger´s return to India. Emergency Certificates are issued directly by the Embassy of India, Berlin or Consulate General of India, Frankfurt / Munich / Hamburg.
- Know your correct jurisdiction before applying, and ensure you apply at the correct Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC). For more details, refer to the "How to Apply" section or "Jurisdiction" section.
- Applicants are required to submit a recent copy of meldebescheinigung (Address Proof) along with the passport application.
- Consular surcharge of EUR 2 shall be levied on all passport services and must be paid along with passport fee and service fee, as specified in the fee details section.
- Processing of a completed passport application may take up to seven weeks. Applicants will receive periodic alerts via SMS/WhatsApp (provided the applicant has WhatsApp in their phone) at various stages of the application process. Applicants are also advised to use the "Track Application" page to check the current status of their application.
- Tatkal facility is not available at Indian Embassy and Consulates.
- Applicants coming to the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) for application submission must have a prior appointment, and must visit the ICAC at the designated date and time only, as per the appointment letter. Applicants coming in without an appointment will not be entertained.
- Fees submission at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) can be made through cash.
- Applicants availing the Postal Service must include the proof of payment along with other documents, as the per checklist.
- Applicants must ensure that they have all the supporting documents, as mentioned in the "Documents Checklist" section. Incomplete applications will not be accepted at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC)
Note: Old passport shall be cancelled by the Embassy and cannot be used for travel once application for reissue is accepted.
